题目:Transparent Spinel MgAl2O4 Ceramics for Photonic Application

报告摘要:Transparent spinel (MgAl2O4) is well known strategic material for its optical and mechanical properties. In the first section,preparation of contamination free transparent spinel ceramic is discussed. In this study plaster of Paris (PoP) mold was substituted by the spinel (MgAl2O3) materials. The specimens were fabricated by slip-cast method and are subjected to sintering. The sintered specimens were treated in hot isostatic pressing (HIP) in argon atmosphere to obtain the theoretical density and good transparency at higher temperature and pressure. The transparency between samples prepared by PoP and spinel molds are discussed. In the second part,we have evaluated the luminescent property of the Eu2O3 doped MgAl2O4 spinel that photo-excited at the 266 nm. A photoluminescence spectrometer was used to evaluate the luminescence properties of the sintered and HIPed samples. The sintered specimen exhibited the characteristic red light emission of Eu3+ at 613 nm. Interestingly,the Eu3+ emission does not show for the HIPed specimen and displays a characteristic blue emission in the 445-480 nm range for the Eu2+. Remarkably,additional heat treatment of the HIPed specimen at 1300 ℃ for 1h discovered the re-appearance of the red emission at 613 nm without the blue emission of Eu2+. The above observations established that Eu3+/Eu2+ emission centers are tunable depending on the processing parameters. Moreover,a characteristic emission center at 482 nm was observed for the sintered specimen that designates the presence of oxygen vacancy.??


个人简介:

Dr. Shiv Prakash Singh is a glass scientist and has acquired more than 17 years of experience in glass science and technology. He has pursued his Ph.D. in Glass Science and Technology from CSIR-Central Glass and Ceramic Research Institute (CGCRI),Kolkata,India. In his later career,he has been worked at the Federal University of Sao Carlos,Brazil;Karlsruhe Institute of Technology,Germany and at the International Advanced Research Center for Powder Metallurgy and New Materials (ARCI),Hyderabad,India. Currently,he is working at Liaoning Academy of Materials,Shenyang,China. He has been involved in fundamental glass research and glass technology development activities. During his long glass research career,he has developed his expertise in synthesizing glasses of oxides,oxynitride and metallic systems. He has hands-on experience in preparing glass powders,paste,and glass coatings on glass and metallic substrates. His fundamental glass research involves the Surface Plasmon Resonance (SPR) study of nanometals (i.e.,bismuth nanometals particularly) in the oxide glass matrix,photoluminescence studies of rare earths,phase-separated glasses,and glass structure-property correlation study. His expertise also included the synthesis of metallic nanoglass using physical vapor deposition (PVD) methods. Glass ceramics prepared through controlled crystallization of precursor glass is also his area of research interest. He has been involved in technology development,such as dielectric glass coatings for plasma display panels,sealant glass coatings for solid oxide fuel cell applications and development of low expansion glass ceramics.?

Dr. Singh has published several international research papers,book,book chapters,and patent in his credits. He has received several research grant awards for his research activities,including Senior Research Fellowship from Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR),India;a Post-doctoral research fellowship from the Sao Paulo Research Foundation,Brazil (FAPESP),Brazil;and a Guest Scientist Fellowship from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT),Germany.? He has been a member of the American Ceramic Society (ACerS) since 2015,along with a member of several other scientific professionals. He has been inducted in the Editorial Board of the ACerS as an Associate Editor. He is an active members of different committees of ACerS.??
